"China 5G Spectrum Planning Strategy Seminar" was successfully held in Xiamen

Recently, the "China 5G Spectrum Planning Strategy Seminar" and the "3.5GHz Band TD-LTE/TD-LTE-Advanced Product and Performance Exhibition" jointly hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and China Mobile were held in Xiamen. Leaders and technical experts from the Radio Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the Xiamen Radio Administration, the TD Industry Alliance, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, Huawei, Datang, ZTE, Ericsson, Nokia, Qualcomm and other companies attended this meeting. Spectrum, as the fundamental resource of mobile communication, its planning will largely determine the direction and pace of 5G development. During the symposium, experts present conducted in-depth discussions on China's 5G spectrum demand, resource composition methods, available resources for high and low frequency bands, and planning strategies, providing important references for China's management institutions to formulate 5G spectrum planning strategies.
With abundant bandwidth resources, the 3.5GHz frequency band has become a global hot frequency, providing an important opportunity for the further global development of TD-LTE. At the same time, it has also become an important spectrum resource for the global 5G development, attracting key attention from the global mobile industry. During the seminar, equipment manufacturers such as Huawei, Datang, ZTE, Ericsson and Nokia presented end-to-end product and performance demonstrations of the 3.5GHz frequency band to the participants. The industry also expressed its eager expectations for the prompt planning of the 3.5GHz frequency band in China.
Nokia showcased TD-LTE 3.5GHz 8T8R macro RRU, 4T4R low-power RRU and integrated small base stations for the global market. As a traditional giant in the manufacturing of mobile communication equipment, Ericsson this time brings two 3.5GHz Macro station devices, Macro Radio 2218, test Radio B42 and a Micro station device, Micro Radio 4401. Huawei showcased the 3.5GHz RRU3256 that supports 115M bandwidth and is currently commercially available on a large scale worldwide, as well as the 8T8R RRU customized for Japan's SoftBank. By the end of the year, the 8T8R RRU with ultra-wideband, high power and multiple carriers for the global market will be commercially released. In terms of terminals, Huawei showcased the world's first prototype of a 3.5GHz frequency band smartphone and the commercial terminal B2328-42 that supports carrier aggregation, as well as seven other CPE and MiFi terminal devices for different applications. Datang Mobile showcased a 3.5GHz small station that supports dual-carrier operation and air interface synchronization technology. It can dynamically adjust the subframe ratio based on the load level of uplink and downlink services to cope with changes in quantity and traffic. Zte showcased the 3.5GHz full-band 8-channel and 4-channel series macro station RRU, indoor coverage Pico RRU, and two models of CPE terminal products. On the spot, Zhongxing conducted an end-to-end demonstration of peak rates of over 980Mbps in the 3.5GHz band with a 100MHz bandwidth and 5-carrier aggregation +4x4 MIMO.
China Mobile, in collaboration with Huawei, set up a 3.5GHz frequency band demonstration environment outside the second phase of Xiamen Software Park and conducted a peak rate demonstration of the world's first commercial terminal B2328-42 that supports 3.5GHz carrier aggregation function. And the demonstration of the 1.2Gbps external field peak rate brought by technologies such as five-carrier aggregation, downlink 256QAM high-order modulation, and 4x4 MIMO. The application of these advanced technologies can further activate the value of the 3.5GHz ultra-high bandwidth spectrum and usher in a new era of commercial use of LTE-Advanced in the 3.5GHz frequency band.
